Monfils Beats Fritz to Reach Last 16 at Australian Open 2025

Gael Monfils, 38 years old from France, made a great comeback to beat Taylor Fritz from the United States in the third round of the 2025 Australian Open. The match was played on a sunny afternoon at Margaret Court Arena.

Fritz won the first set 6-3, but Monfils didn’t give up. He played better in the second set and won it 7-5. The match was tied at one set each. In the third set, both players tried hard, but Monfils won the tiebreak 7-1. In the fourth set, Monfils broke Fritz’s serve and finished the match with a strong ace, celebrating with a happy dance.

Monfils played smart tennis, blocking Fritz’s hard shots and waiting for the right moment to attack. This victory is big for Monfils, who has had many injuries in the past but is now playing his best.
