The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has made new rules for handling environmental fines and violations. These rules are meant to help people fix their mistakes and pay fines easily. The new system makes sure everything is clear and fair, encouraging people to settle their cases by paying some of the fine amount.

These rules are based on Law No. (16) of 2005, which gives EAD the power to allow people to pay 75% of the fine for certain violations. This rule only applies to the violations listed in EAD’s guidelines. People can’t use this option if they keep repeating their mistakes or if the violation harms the environment badly.
If someone cannot use the settlement option or if they don’t follow the rules, they must pay the full fine. They must also repair the damage caused and return things to how they were before the violation. If they don’t do this on time, EAD will fix it and the violator must pay for the cost.
The new rules also let violators appeal their fine. They can do this within 60 days of being told about the violation. The violator has to show proof and explain why they think the fine is unfair. If the appeal is rejected, the violator must pay the full fine, and the decision will be final.
Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, the Secretary General of EAD, said that these rules are a big step in improving how environmental laws are followed in Abu Dhabi. They aim to stop damage to the environment caused by different activities and help keep the planet safe for the future.
EAD will work closely with other government bodies to make sure the rules are followed properly.
