Rapper Busta Rhymes, whose legal name is Trevor Smith, has been accused of repeatedly punching a man in the face, according to police reports on Friday. The incident took place on January 10, 2025, in Brooklyn's Dumbo neighborhood. Authorities said that Busta was issued a desk appearance ticket for third-degree assault, which is considered a misdemeanor.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, told police that he had been arguing with Busta when the rapper allegedly struck him several times in the face. The man was taken to the hospital with visible swelling on the left side of his face, police said.
Busta Rhymes, 52, is a well-known rapper with a string of popular hits, including "Break Ya Neck," "Touch It," and "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See." He is scheduled to appear in court on February 3, 2025, according to the Brooklyn district attorney's office. Further details on the case have not been released.
An email seeking comment from Busta Rhymes' publicist has been sent, but no response has been received at the time of writing.
The rapper, who has earned recognition for his contributions to the music industry, was recently honored with the Global Icon award at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards.
The case is still under investigation, and Busta Rhymes' legal team has yet to make a public statement regarding the accusations.
