MADINAH: Saudi media reported on Tuesday that at least two Pakistani nationals were apprehended during a crackdown on drug peddlers in the Madinah region. The suspects were allegedly involved in the illicit trade of methamphetamine and were subsequently handed over to the public prosecution after completing initial legal procedures.
This arrest is part of ongoing efforts across Saudi Arabia to combat drug trafficking and smuggling. The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority recently intercepted several attempts to smuggle narcotics concealed in luggage through various ports.
In one instance, a truck entering the Kingdom through Duba Port was found to contain 93,750 narcotic tablets hidden among goods. Additionally, 356,559 tablets were discovered in a shipment at Jeddah Islamic Port Customs, while 201,600 Captagon pills were recovered from a concealed compartment in the floor of a vehicle at Al-Haditha port.

Upon the discovery of these illicit substances, the Customs Authority collaborated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to apprehend seven suspects who were allegedly linked to the intercepted consignment.
In a separate operation in Jeddah, the General Directorate of Narcotics Control arrested two individuals, one Pakistani and one Filipino, who were attempting to sell 2.6 kilograms of methamphetamine.
Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities also detained a Pakistani national in Hafr Al-Batin city for his involvement in the sale of methamphetamine.
These actions reflect the ongoing commitment of Saudi authorities to combat the illegal drug trade and ensure the safety and security of the Kingdom's residents.
