DIFC & global hedge fund Verition launch search for top-tier interns

Verition Fund Management LLC ("Verition"), a well-known global hedge fund that follows a multi-strategy approach, has announced the launch of its first-ever internship program in Dubai. This program is being introduced in partnership with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

Earlier this year, in February 2024, DIFC released its first Future of Finance report. This report was created through research and discussions with experts in the finance industry, including Verition. It highlighted the growing concern about a shortage of skilled professionals in the financial sector. To address this, the report suggested offering competitive salaries, continuous training, and strong partnerships with universities to attract and retain talent.

Verition’s internship program is designed to support these recommendations by giving university students, including UAE Nationals, real-world experience in global finance. The program aims to help young talent develop their skills and explore career opportunities in the financial industry.

Verition manages assets worth USD 12 billion and has over 700 employees worldwide. The firm operates in several major financial hubs, including the US, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Dubai. Since setting up its office in DIFC in 2023, Verition has been growing rapidly in the region. The company has expanded its team and increased the number of financial strategies managed from Dubai.

As part of its commitment to supporting the local talent pool, Verition’s internship program will run for 16 weeks. It is a highly selective and immersive experience that will welcome students from top universities in the UAE, such as Zayed University, the American University in Dubai, and the American University of Sharjah. Interns will rotate through different investment-focused departments, including Credit, Fixed Income & Macro, Convertible & Volatility Arbitrage, Event-Driven, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets, and Quantitative Strategies. They will also gain exposure to important non-investment areas such as treasury, operations, legal and compliance, and other key functions.

The internship will be held in person at Verition’s Dubai office in DIFC. Participants will have the chance to work closely with experienced professionals, receive mentorship, and participate in a collaborative learning environment. The program will also allow them to experience Verition’s unique entrepreneurial culture, which encourages open communication and innovation in investment strategies.
