Nottingham Forest won against Ipswich Town in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw at the City Ground. The victory helped Forest reach the FA Cup quarter-finals, where they will play against Brighton. Even though Forest is much higher in the Premier League table than Ipswich, the match was very close. Forest’s coach, Nuno Espírito Santo, gave rest to some of his best players because the team is more focused on the league. This gave Ipswich a chance to play better and try to win. They showed good effort and took the lead in the second half when George Hirst scored with a strong header from a corner kick.

After going behind, Forest played with more energy and equalized in the 68th minute. Ryan Yates took advantage of weak defending from Ipswich and scored with a header. After this goal, Forest brought in their top striker Chris Wood and England player Morgan Gibbs-White, hoping to win in normal time, but Ipswich defended well, and the match went into extra time.

In extra time, both teams tried hard to score but could not find a winning goal. This led to a penalty shootout. The first nine penalties were all successful, but when Jack Taylor took his shot for Ipswich, Matz Sels made a great save, giving Forest the victory.

After the match, Sels said, “In penalties, one goalkeeper always becomes the hero. I am happy I could help my team. That was the only penalty where I dived in the right direction!”

With this win, Forest will now prepare for their next FA Cup match against Brighton. A victory there will take them one step closer to Wembley.
