Parkin Company PJSC (Parkin), the biggest provider of paid public parking services in Dubai, has shared an exciting update on its electric vehicle (EV) charging partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). In the first phase of this green initiative, DEWA will install new EV charging stations in the first quarter of 2025. These stations will use alternating current (AC) with a capacity of 22 kilowatts each, and every charging station will serve two parking spaces. The new chargers will be placed in prime parking spots managed by Parkin, making it easier for EV users to find a convenient place to charge their vehicles.
As part of this expansion, the charging stations will be set up in specific on-street parking locations in zones A and C. These areas were chosen carefully because they are in high-density residential neighborhoods where access to EV charging is currently very limited. To make the process easier for users, Parkin will allow customers to pay for both the EV charging and parking fee in one simple transaction using its app and linked digital wallet.

This collaboration between Parkin and DEWA will increase the total number of DEWA EV Green Charger stations in Dubai. The goal is to make EV charging more accessible for people who live and work in the city. With more charging stations available, it is expected that the use of these parking spaces will rise, improving efficiency and boosting revenue.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA stated: “We are committed to promoting green mobility and encouraging the use of electric vehicles to reduce carbon emissions. This aligns with the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, both of which aim to make Dubai one of the best cities to live in. Our partnership with Parkin will help expand EV charging infrastructure across the city, using the latest technologies to provide a seamless charging experience. These efforts support the UAE’s climate goals and strengthen Dubai’s position as a top global destination for living, working, and investing.”
Eng. Mohamed Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, also shared his thoughts: “As the leading company in parking operations, management, and technology in Dubai, Parkin plays a key role in supporting the shift to electric vehicles in the Emirate. Installing EV chargers in important locations will improve our facilities, create new growth opportunities, and encourage more people to switch to electric cars. With our expertise in parking management and a shared goal of advancing sustainable mobility, Parkin and DEWA are dedicated to expanding EV infrastructure in Dubai. This supports the environmental, social, and transport-related goals set by our wise leadership.”
Currently, DEWA operates around 740 EV Green Charger points across Dubai. However, the authority aims to increase this number to 1,000 charging stations by the end of this year. The EV Green Charger initiative, which began in 2014, was created to build a reliable network of EV charging stations, helping more people transition to electric vehicles. With this expansion, Dubai is taking another step toward becoming a greener, more sustainable city.
