New Delhi: The father of Shahzadi Khan, a woman from Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, has asked for help from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). On Saturday, he went to the Delhi High Court and requested the government to find out the current legal status and health condition of his daughter.
Who is Shahzadi Khan?
Shahzadi Khan, a 33-year-old woman, is facing execution in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She is in Al Wathba jail and has been sentenced to death because of the death of a child who was in her care.

How Did She End Up in This Situation?
According to her father’s petition, Shahzadi got a work visa and traveled to Abu Dhabi in December 2021. She had a stopover in Dubai before reaching her destination.
In August 2022, Shahzadi’s employer had a baby boy. After the child was born, she was given the responsibility to take care of him.
On December 7, 2022, the infant received routine vaccinations. Sadly, the baby passed away the same evening.
Why Was Shahzadi Sentenced to Death?
In December 2023, a video recording surfaced, which allegedly showed Shahzadi confessing that she had caused the baby’s death. However, her father claims that the confession was forced. He said that her employer and his family tortured her and made her accept the blame.
On February 10, 2023, she was handed over to the Abu Dhabi Police. A few months later, on July 31, 2023, the court sentenced her to death for the infant’s death.
Was She Given a Fair Trial?
Shahzadi’s father also said that the Indian Embassy gave her a lawyer, but they pressured her to confess. He believes she did not get proper legal support.
In September 2023, she appealed the decision, but the court rejected it. On February 28, 2024, the death sentence was confirmed.
Father’s Fight to Save His Daughter
After the appeal was rejected, Shabbir Khan (Shahzadi’s father) filed a mercy petition in May 2024.
On February 14, 2025, Shahzadi called her father from jail. She hinted that her execution could happen soon. Worried for her life, Shabbir Khan immediately contacted the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on February 20, 2025, and asked them to look into her case. However, he has not received any response yet.
Now, Shabbir Khan has moved the Delhi High Court. He wants the court to direct the government to find out what is happening with his daughter’s case and her current health condition.
The family is still hoping that the Indian government will help save her life.
