The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Artificial Intelligence Center Hamburg (ARIC), marking the first international partnership for Sandbox Dubai. This collaboration is a key step in Dubai’s push to become a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI) development.
The partnership will invite top AI innovators and businesses from Europe to test their new technologies in Dubai’s regulatory sandbox. This sandbox, launched in 2024 as part of Dubai’s Economic Agenda (D33), is designed to help businesses test their products in a controlled and regulated environment. Dubai aims to double its economy in the next decade, and AI is seen as a major part of that growth.

ARIC, one of Europe’s top AI centers, brings together experts from various fields, including business, science, and society, to share knowledge and ideas about AI. Through the MoU, both DFF and ARIC will exchange ideas, connect innovators, and work together to support businesses in the deep-tech sector from both the UAE and Germany.
Sandbox Dubai offers businesses a platform to test new products and services safely. The goal is to help speed up the adoption of new technologies, especially in AI. Through the partnership with ARIC, Dubai hopes to create global opportunities for collaboration in the AI field.
Abdulaziz AlJaziri, the Deputy CEO and Chief Operations Officer of DFF, signed the agreement alongside Alois Krtil, the CEO of ARIC. AlJaziri explained that Sandbox Dubai is designed to improve Dubai’s innovation ecosystem by identifying new opportunities, encouraging innovation, and working with both the government and private sectors to develop forward-thinking regulations that support new projects and ideas.
AlJaziri also emphasized that this partnership would help introduce Sandbox Dubai to global markets and encourage international cooperation in regulatory innovation. He added that the goal is to support talented entrepreneurs and companies, helping them launch new products in Dubai, and making the city a hub for developing and testing groundbreaking technologies.
Krtil, from ARIC, highlighted the partnership's potential to open up new cross-border collaboration opportunities. By working together, both ARIC and DFF will create a platform for innovators, entrepreneurs, and policymakers in both countries to share knowledge and experience about AI in sandbox environments. The collaboration will also include joint technology transfer projects and the exchange of best practices. Krtil hopes that these efforts will strengthen the connection between the two leading innovation hubs and help both regions grow.
This partnership marks an exciting step toward global cooperation in the AI field, opening doors for innovation and technological advancements that can shape the future.
