Trump Announces Major US Combat Operations in Iran

Washington: US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced that the United States has started what he described as “major combat operations” in Iran. He said the mission aims to destroy Iran’s missile forces and naval capabilities.

In a video message posted on his social media platform while spending the weekend in Florida, Trump said, “The United States military began major combat operations in Iran. Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.”

The president stated that US forces are targeting Iran’s missile systems and missile production facilities. “We are going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally obliterated,” he said. He also added that the United States intends to “annihilate” Iran’s navy as part of the ongoing military action.

Trump addressed Iranian military personnel, offering what he called “immunity” if they stand down, or warning of “certain death” if they continue to resist. He also sent a message to the people of Iran, saying that the “hour of your freedom is at hand.”

Iranian media reported that strikes were carried out in several parts of the country. Smoke was seen rising from areas in the capital city, according to local reports.

The situation marks a major escalation in tensions between the United States and Iran, with military operations now actively underway.
