Victor Prado, a 45-year-old man from Houston, Texas, has been sentenced to life in prison for horrifically abusing his girlfriend's two young children. The abuse occurred while their mother was at work and Prado was entrusted with their care at a commercial building where he ran a moving company.
Court documents reveal that Prado subjected the children, aged 3 and 4 at the time, to severe physical and emotional abuse. This included beating them, starving them, and even restraining them with zip ties. Shockingly, Prado withheld food from the children, claiming it would make them defecate.
Concerned witnesses reported the children appearing severely malnourished and noticed suspicious behavior, such as the children being left alone at night and hearing them scream. This prompted a Child Protective Services investigation in May 2020, leading to the removal of the children from their mother's care and their admission to Texas Children's Hospital.

Medical professionals testified during the trial, describing the devastating injuries inflicted on the children. The 4-year-old boy weighed only 32 pounds, had broken bones, and suffered permanent brain damage due to starvation and physical abuse. The 3-year-old girl endured blunt-force trauma, broken ribs, and intestinal injuries consistent with severe physical assault. Both children showed signs of ligature marks and pelvic injuries, akin to those seen in severe car accidents.
The injuries sustained by the children were categorized as "child torture" by doctors. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg emphasized the severity of Prado's actions, stating, "Our children are our most precious resource and our most vulnerable victims." She expressed hope that the life sentence handed down to Prado would serve as justice for the intentional torture inflicted upon the young victims.
Victor Prado was convicted on two counts of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury. He will serve two life sentences concurrently and must serve a minimum of 30 years before being eligible for parole.
