Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the 16th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is set to take place this November. The event, regarded as the most prestigious on the global jiu-jitsu calendar, will see more than 8,000 male and female athletes from over 130 countries compete.

His Excellency Abdulmonem Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, President of the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union, and Senior Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, expressed his deep appreciation to the UAE leadership for its unwavering support of the sport. He extended special thanks to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, for his continued support of jiu-jitsu in the country, and to Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed for his patronage of this globally significant event.
His Excellency Al Hashemi emphasized that thanks to the wise leadership of the UAE, jiu-jitsu has witnessed exceptional growth on the world stage. He noted that Abu Dhabi has firmly positioned itself as a global hub for nurturing talent, producing new generations of champions, and fostering cultural exchange by attracting athletes from around the globe. The UAE capital, he added, has become a key destination for athletes seeking excellence and opportunities for growth in the sport.
“The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship stands as a beacon of excellence, innovation, and discipline,” Al Hashemi said. “Through this championship, generations of male and female athletes have risen to global prominence, proudly representing the UAE on the world stage. The event continues to inspire athletes worldwide and serves to reinforce Abu Dhabi’s status as a leading destination for sporting excellence and as a bridge between diverse cultures.”
Al Hashemi also highlighted the increasing number of athletes participating in the championship each year, which underscores Abu Dhabi’s role as a global platform for sports, fostering both top-tier talent and international cooperation through jiu-jitsu. He pointed out that the UAE’s strategy of developing local champions has led to a consistent track record of success in regional and international competitions.
The 16th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship continues to build on the UAE’s sporting legacy, adding to 15 years of rich heritage. The championship plays a vital role in promoting community engagement and encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle, while further enhancing Abu Dhabi’s reputation as the world capital of jiu-jitsu. It is one of the world’s most premier sports events, attracting elite athletes from all corners of the globe.
This year’s 12-day championship will feature a wide range of competitions across various categories and age groups. The event kicks off with the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Festival for kids on November 6-7, 2024. On November 7, the Para Jiu-Jitsu competition for People of Determination athletes will take place, followed by Youth competitions on November 8-9. The Amateurs’ events are scheduled for November 10-11, while the Masters’ competitions will be held on November 12-13. The championship will culminate with the highly anticipated Professionals’ competitions from November 14-16.
The event will conclude on November 17, 2024, with the prestigious Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Awards ceremony, where the top athletes, clubs, and entities will be recognized for their achievements.
As the championship approaches, excitement continues to build, with athletes and fans alike anticipating an unforgettable showcase of world-class talent, sportsmanship, and international camaraderie. The 16th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship promises to be a landmark event, further solidifying Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a global sporting hub and a center for jiu-jitsu excellence.
