Lucid Air Grand Touring Added to Dubai Police's Tourist Security Patrols

Dubai Police has unveiled its latest addition to the tourist patrol fleet: the Lucid Air Grand Touring, an advanced electric vehicle (EV) designed to enhance security and promote sustainable transport within the city. The vehicle was formally presented by His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, during a handover ceremony held at the Dubai Police Officers Club. Faisal Sultan, Vice President and Managing Director for the Middle East at Lucid, delivered the vehicle, highlighting the collaboration between the two entities.

The event gathered several high-ranking officials, including Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commandant for Criminal Investigation Affairs; Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs; Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department of Community Happiness; and Brigadier Harib Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation. These leaders, along with other officers and staff, witnessed the handover, which signifies an important step in the modernization of the police fleet.

Lt. Gen. Al Marri stated that the introduction of the Lucid Air Grand Touring aligns with the UAE’s commitment to a green economy and supports the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033. He emphasized the importance of adopting advanced technologies that facilitate sustainable development and reduce carbon emissions in police operations. The integration of this electric vehicle will not only enhance the tourist police’s visibility in popular areas but also strengthen community relations during various public events.

Faisal Sultan expressed pride in supporting the Dubai Police's electrification efforts, especially following the opening of Lucid's first retail studio in Dubai, located at City Walk. He highlighted the company's aim to expand its presence in the emirate, reinforcing the partnership that merges Lucid's cutting-edge technology with Dubai Police's forward-thinking approach.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring boasts an impressive 819 horsepower and is recognized as the first production vehicle capable of achieving a WLTP estimated range of up to 839 kilometers on a single charge. For the 2024 model year, the vehicle includes further technological advancements, ensuring greater efficiency, faster charging, and improved performance under various conditions.

Lucid Group, headquartered in Silicon Valley, focuses on producing high-performance electric vehicles. Their flagship model, the Lucid Air, begins at $69,900 and aims to lead the market in performance and efficiency. The company is also preparing to start production of the Lucid Gravity SUV at its vertically integrated factory in Arizona, reinforcing its mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation and energy.
