Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced updated rules for passengers wishing to bring e-scooters onto the Dubai Metro and Tram. These new guidelines aim to enhance the overall commuter experience and ensure the safety of all passengers.
Passengers are strictly prohibited from charging their e-scooters while on the Metro or Tram. Additionally, riding e-scooters is not allowed at any time—this includes onboard, at stations, or on footbridges. This policy is part of the RTA's commitment to maintaining a safe and orderly environment for all commuters.

When entering stations, platforms, and onboard the Metro or Tram, all e-scooters must be folded. This measure is intended to minimize obstruction and ensure smooth movement within the transit areas. Passengers are also reminded to avoid blocking doors, seats, aisles, or emergency equipment with their e-scooters, as this can impede safety protocols and the flow of passenger traffic.
The RTA has specified that e-scooters must meet certain requirements: they should weigh less than 20 kg and have dimensions not exceeding 120 cm in length, 70 cm in width, and 40 cm in height. Compliance with these specifications is essential for smooth integration into the Metro and Tram services.
In a post on social media platform X, the RTA stated: "In line with #RTA’s efforts to enhance the commuter experience in #Dubai, updated rules and guidelines have been implemented for passengers who wish to bring their e-scooter while travelling on Dubai Metro or Tram. Make sure to fold your e-scooter and place it in the designated areas, and never ride it inside the stations."
These changes reflect the RTA's ongoing dedication to improving public transport and ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers using Dubai’s Metro and Tram services.
