Borussia Dortmund won 3-0 against Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday in the Champions League play-off. This win gives them a big advantage for the next match. Serhou Guirassy played a very important role. He scored the first goal and later helped in another goal. His goal in the 60th minute made him the top scorer of the tournament with 10 goals. After scoring, he passed the ball to Pascal Gross, who made it 2-0. Later, Karim Adeyemi scored the third goal to make sure Dortmund won the match at the José Alvalade Stadium.

Sporting started the match well and looked strong in the first half. They had control and created good chances. Their new coach Rui Borges, who joined in December, has helped the team improve. Francisco Trincão, a former Barcelona player, took a strong shot from far, but Dortmund’s goalkeeper Gregor Kobel saved it. Maxi Araujo almost scored when his shot hit the crossbar. Conrad Harder, who played instead of their injured top scorer Viktor Gyökeres, also took a powerful shot, but Kobel stopped it with a strong hand.
Dortmund did not look great in the first half but played much better in the second half. This was their second match under new coach Niko Kovač. The team worked harder and played with more energy. Their coach was happy and said the players showed great fighting spirit. This was also the first time in 14 matches that Dortmund did not let the other team score, which is a good sign for them.
The first goal came when Guirassy jumped high and headed the ball into the net after getting a cross from Julian Brandt. Sporting tried to make a comeback by bringing in Gyökeres, but soon after, Dortmund scored again. Guirassy sent a good pass into the box, and Pascal Gross quickly touched the ball into the goal to make it 2-0.
Sporting tried hard to score, but Dortmund was too fast. They started a counter-attack, and Adeyemi ran into the box and easily tapped the ball in after a smart pass from Brandt. This sealed the win for Dortmund. Sporting coach Borges said the result was tough for them. He also said his players got tired in the second half, which made it harder for them to fight back. He explained that playing in the Champions League is difficult, and teams need to stay strong from start to finish.
Now, Sporting has a very difficult task in the second leg on February 19 in Dortmund. They must win by a big margin to stay in the tournament. However, their defender Matheus Reis said that they will not give up. He promised that Sporting will fight hard and try their best to win the next match.
