Mohammed bin Rashid holds meeting with Klaus Schwab in Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met with Professor Klaus Schwab, the Executive Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the World Economic Forum. The meeting took place on the eve of the World Governments Summit 2025, which is being held from February 11 to 13 under the theme 'Shaping Future Governments.'

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by several high-ranking UAE officials, including His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence; His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council; His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council; and His Excellency Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Governments Summit.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed welcomed Professor Schwab and expressed his appreciation for the World Economic Forum’s role in promoting international cooperation. He highlighted how such global platforms help leaders and decision-makers work together to find solutions for economic and developmental challenges.

The discussions focused on how governments around the world can collaborate more effectively. Both leaders emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge and experiences to create better policies and strategies. They also talked about how large global events, like the World Governments Summit and the World Economic Forum, provide valuable opportunities to improve governance and boost economic progress.

Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting global cooperation and working towards a shared vision for the future. He said that by preparing for challenges and creating new opportunities for economic growth and investment, nations can ensure long-term success. He also spoke about the importance of adaptability in governance, stressing that governments must evolve to keep pace with the rapid changes happening worldwide.

Professor Klaus Schwab praised the UAE’s efforts in building strong international partnerships. He acknowledged the country’s contributions to sustainable development and economic growth. He also highlighted the World Governments Summit’s increasing influence in uniting world leaders, organizations, and institutions to address global challenges.

Professor Schwab is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the summit titled ‘Governments in the Intelligent Age,’ where he will discuss how governments can use advanced technology and innovation to improve public services and policymaking.

The World Governments Summit 2025 brings together more than 30 heads of state and government, over 80 international and regional organizations, and 140 government delegations. The event features 21 forums on key global issues, more than 200 interactive sessions with over 300 expert speakers, and 30 ministerial meetings. The summit will also release 30 strategic reports in collaboration with international research institutions and think tanks.

This year’s summit aims to provide a platform for world leaders to exchange ideas, explore solutions, and create policies that will shape the future of governance. The discussions and collaborations during the event are expected to have a lasting impact on global economic growth, sustainable development, and technological advancements.
