Ozzy Osbourne, who told everyone in 2020 that he has Parkinson’s disease, will perform with the original members of Black Sabbath—Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—for a special gig in their hometown of Birmingham. The band, which was formed in 1968, will play together for the first time in 20 years. The concert is called “Back To The Beginning” and will be held on July 5 at Villa Park stadium, home to Aston Villa Football Club. Along with Black Sabbath’s performance, there will be sets by Metallica and Slayer, plus a short solo set by Osbourne.

This event is being called Osbourne’s “final bow,” meaning it will be his last performance. Ozzy, now 76 years old, shared a link on Facebook to the ticket presale event on Monday night, and all the presale tickets sold out in just half an hour. Some fans said the website froze, but Ticketmaster said there were no issues. More presale tickets will be available for special groups, like Aston Villa season ticket holders, before the remaining 40,000 tickets go on sale to everyone on Friday.
Osbourne said, “It’s time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How lucky am I to do it with the help of people I love. Birmingham is the real home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
All the money from the concert will go to charities like Cure Parkinson’s and Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Osbourne had to stop touring because of his illness, but his wife Sharon said this will be his last gig. She said, “This is his full stop.”
Black Sabbath, one of the most important bands in heavy metal, has sold over 75 million albums worldwide. This concert will be the end of an important chapter for both the band and Ozzy Osbourne.
