Pakistan's top investigating agency has registered a case against jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan for allegedly inciting government officials to mutiny through his social media posts.
A team comprising investigation and technical officers visited Adiala Jail to question Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, in connection with a controversial post on his official X account.
“A case has been registered against Mr. Khan for inciting government officials to mutiny,” Dawn newspaper reported, citing sources.
The officials returned without conducting the interrogation after Khan, 71, insisted he would not participate without his lawyers present.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar stated earlier that the investigation would focus on the handling of Khan’s social media accounts, which are alleged to be used to “create chaos and anarchy” and “undermine national security.”
Tarar mentioned that the investigation would determine who was managing Khan’s accounts and whether the posts were made at his behest or under someone else’s direction. He also referred to an attempt to conspire against high-ranking officials and criticized Khan for mobilizing public sentiment against key state institutions.
Khan, who has been in Adiala Jail since last year, frequently uses his social media platform to criticize the establishment. In a recent post, Khan drew parallels between current events and the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, accusing current military leaders of repeating historical mistakes and consolidating power at the expense of national stability. He condemned the current elite’s control over the country’s resources and power, expressing concern about the safety of the Supreme Court from such influence.
The case against Khan underscores the ongoing political tensions in Pakistan, with his social media activity being a central focus of the investigation
