Financial Audit Authority to Host 2024 Government Audit Future Conference

The Financial Audit Authority (FAA) has announced the upcoming Foreseeing Government Audit Future Conference 2024, set to take place on October 24 at Madinat Jumeirah. This event is held under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of the UAE, and Chairman of the FAA.

This year’s theme, ‘Tomorrow’s Auditor,’ underscores Dubai’s commitment to leadership in government auditing. The conference aims to gather key figures, senior officials, and experts in auditing, finance, and economics to engage in discussions that will shape the future of government auditing, internal controls, and financial oversight while providing innovative insights.

The conference will include panel discussions and workshops focused on best practices and forward-thinking solutions vital for improving government auditing processes. These discussions are aligned with Dubai’s development goals and are designed to enhance its economic landscape.

Local and international speakers, including high-ranking officials from Dubai’s government and federal entities, will present their expertise on global auditing standards and practices. This initiative aims to facilitate knowledge transfer and improve the performance of government auditors, equipping them to tackle future challenges.

His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Hareb, the Director General of the FAA, emphasized the importance of fostering a robust culture of auditing and governance within public institutions. He stated that these elements are essential for ensuring sound financial practices and fostering the emirate’s growth and prosperity. “This conference keeps pace with Dubai's rapid advancements across various fields, highlighting its position as a model for sustainable development both regionally and internationally,” he remarked.

He added that the event reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to achieve excellence across all sectors. By strengthening auditing capabilities, the FAA aims to protect public funds and stimulate growth through best practices in government auditing.

The conference will commence with a keynote session titled ‘Governance of Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Economy,’ delivered by His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. This session will delve into the significance of governance in AI and the digital economy, aligning with Dubai’s forward-thinking vision.

The agenda includes vital discussion sessions, such as ‘The Role of Effective Governance and Oversight in Achieving the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.’ This session will feature a distinguished panel of Directors General and prominent officials, including HE Malek Al Malek of the Dubai Development Authority, HE AbdulRahman Al Hareb, HE Mohammed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, and HE Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation. They will explore the critical role of effective governance and oversight in implementing the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, highlighting the enhancement of Dubai’s business environment.

Another significant segment will be ‘Inspiring Women: Success Stories from the UAE,’ which will include speakers like Her Excellency Hala Badri, Director General of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, HE Dr. Maryam Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Securities and Commodities Authority, and HE Aisha Miran, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. This session aims to celebrate the achievements of Emirati women and provide inspiration.

In addition to the main sessions, the conference will feature side discussions on essential topics such as fraud risk assessment, performance monitoring best practices, and their application in internal auditing to shape the future of governance. Other relevant sessions will address governance’s role in enhancing tax compliance, alongside discussions titled ‘Governance for Sustainable Growth’ and ‘AI in Internal Auditing,’ as well as exploring cybersecurity awareness and the importance of internal control in reporting.

Now in its second year, the Foreseeing Government Audit Future Conference builds on the success of the inaugural event, which highlighted best practices in government auditing to bolster efficiency and support development. This aligns with HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision of enhancing financial security and fostering a culture of financial responsibility in the emirate.
