His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, visited the Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) Hub at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2025. During the visit, His Highness met with members of the Y4S initiative. This programme, started by Masdar, helps young people learn skills and gain knowledge to become leaders in sustainability. His Highness was shown how Y4S programmes are helping young people find smart ways to solve climate problems and support the planet's future.
His Highness said it is important to support young people so they can lead the way in protecting the environment. He said using modern technology like artificial intelligence and focusing on subjects like science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) will help young people create new ideas to make the world cleaner and greener.
He also said the UAE is working hard to use clean energy and share knowledge with other countries. These actions support the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, which aims to make the UAE a global leader in using clean energy and sustainable practices.
His Highness was joined on this visit by His Excellency Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
The Y4S Hub is running from 14 to 16 January 2025 and has many activities for young people. It includes the Annual Y4S Forum, which has talks, debates, and workshops with experts and innovators. There is also “Out-of-Labs,” where young inventors and students show their new ideas and projects to solve climate problems.
Other events include “Youth Connect,” where young people join hands-on workshops to learn about climate change and practice real-life discussions about solutions. “Innovate 4 Climate Pitch Day” allows young minds to present their ideas to solve issues like water shortages.
This year’s ADSW theme is *“The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress.”* It brings together leaders, businesses, and experts to find ways to make the world greener and stronger for the future. This event hopes to inspire everyone to work together for a better planet.
