His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, joined important talks on the second day of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit 2025, held at ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.

When he arrived, His Highness welcomed leaders and government officials. He thanked them for taking part and said that the discussions were key for finding ideas and solutions to meet global goals for climate action and sustainability.
His Highness confirmed the UAE’s dedication to speeding up the world’s shift to clean energy. He talked about the importance of using new ideas, smart technologies, and supporting young people in creating solutions for a better future. He said this will help both the UAE and the world take action against climate change.
His Highness also said that everyone must work together to solve global challenges. He stressed that governments, environmental groups, businesses, and other key organizations must unite to reduce carbon emissions, speed up clean energy use, and promote a circular economy.
The session started with an opening speech by His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, a member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy. He talked about *Shaping Water’s Future: Abu Dhabi’s Progressive Actions for a Sustainable Nexus*, explaining that agriculture uses nearly 70% of the world’s freshwater and how the UAE is using new methods to better manage water.
The session also included speeches by His Excellency William Ruto, President of Kenya, on *Building Africa’s Green Future: Kenya’s Journey to Net Zero*, and His Excellency Bola Tinubu, President of Nigeria, on *From Climate Imperatives to Economic Prosperity: Bringing Africa Into the Future of Global Energy*. After that, His Excellency Yoweri Museveni, President of Uganda, spoke about *Uganda’s Green Transformation: Leading Uganda’s Journey*.
Other speeches were given by His Excellency Wavel Ramkalawan, President of Seychelles, who talked about *Harnessing Blue Economy & Marine Conservation for Sustainable Energy Transition*, Her Excellency Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy, on *Reimagining Energy Security Through Cross-Continental Connections*, and His Excellency Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Albania, who spoke about *Albania’s Green Energy Revolution: A Vision of Regional Leadership in Renewable Energy*.
Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025 is taking place under the theme *The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress* at ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi until January 18. The event brings together leaders, businesses, and people from various sectors to find ways to speed up the transition to a sustainable world. The event stresses the importance of everyone working together to make sure we build a future that is clean and sustainable for all generations.
