Dubai Basketball Names Coca-Cola Arena as Official Home Venue Following Milestone Partnership Agreement

Newly established sports franchise team, Dubai Basketball, has announced an exclusive partnership with Coca-Cola Arena, making the Arena the official home venue for the team. Under this milestone agreement, Dubai’s first sports franchise team will be the official anchor tenant of the Coca-Cola Arena.

This partnership sets the stage for the introduction of international professional basketball in Dubai. Envisioned by its Chairman and Owner Abdulla Saeed Al Naboodah, Dubai Basketball aims to break into the EuroLeague, one of the sport’s top competitions. The team’s initial foray will be in the 16-team ABA (Adriatic) League, bringing European stars to the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.

While Dubai Basketball will play their ABA League matches away in Europe, top-class action will be brought to Dubai during the home legs. All 15 teams in the league will travel to Dubai, allowing fans to watch some of Europe’s prominent basketball players at the Coca-Cola Arena during the nine-month season. Dubai Basketball will compete against top European clubs like Partizan and KK Crvena Zvezda, the latter having recently clinched the ABA League title.

The first games of the ABA League are set to start in September 2024. A full schedule of games will be announced later this month on www.coca-cola-arena.com, providing more information on the team, tickets, and official Dubai Basketball merchandise.

The partnership between Dubai Basketball and Coca-Cola Arena underscores a commitment to advancing Dubai's basketball landscape, fostering community engagement, and promoting sports culture across the Middle East.

By participating in the 2024-25 season of the ABA League, Dubai Basketball plans to gain a foothold in the EuroLeague and build an enduring fan connection. Additional activities include organizing the EuroLeague SuperCup and the Sports Business Summit, which will elevate the team’s international presence.

In subsequent years, Dubai Basketball will strive to improve its competitive position, aiming to boost game attendance and expand its reach. This transformative phase includes striving for a top-10 qualification in the EuroLeague.

Dubai Basketball has appointed Jurica Golemac as the new head coach. A seasoned basketball professional with extensive experience as both a player and coach, Golemac is expected to bring a fresh and dynamic approach to the team. His arrival marks a significant step forward for the club, reflecting its commitment to basketball excellence.

Apart from competing in international leagues, Dubai Basketball aims to grow and develop the game and its fan base in the region. The organization seeks to cultivate a basketball culture in Dubai and generate enough interest to form a solid fan base. Additionally, the team plans to develop a club structure in the emirate and nurture youth teams, with the creation of a state-of-the-art training facility.

Dubai Basketball is also laying the foundations for a youth program, with an eye on future EuroLeague participation. This involves creating a club structure, ensuring compliance with EuroLeague conditions and commitments, and preparing to launch its flagship project: the Regional League.
