The Creative Media Authority has joined hands with the Innovative Film Academy (IFA) to make Abu Dhabi a strong place for filmmaking and learning. IFA, which started the I-Film Festival, will now work in Abu Dhabi to give people more chances to learn and grow in the film industry. This partnership will not only help young filmmakers but also bring more tourists and create more jobs in Abu Dhabi’s film and media sector.

As part of this plan, IFA will open its first campus outside India at Yas Creative Hub in Abu Dhabi. This new academy will provide training all year round, where students can learn important skills like video effects (VFX), editing, sound mixing, recording, digital imaging, and computer graphics. These skills will help students make high-quality 4K films. The academy will have classrooms, professional filmmaking tools, and a library with books and digital materials to support students. There will also be special workshops and weekend masterclasses.
The I-Film Festival, which first happened in Abu Dhabi in 2024, will return in 2025 from April 11 to 13, with another festival planned for 2026. These events will bring thousands of people to Abu Dhabi, where they can watch over 100 films, take part in workshops, and see more than 400 short films.
Khalid Khouri, who leads Industry Development at the Creative Media Authority, said this partnership will help Abu Dhabi become a top place for film production. He explained that the training programs will help local talent, attract students from other countries, and open up more job opportunities. He also said that when students and festival visitors come to Abu Dhabi, it will help the economy grow.
Saravana Prasad, the Founder of the Innovative Group, said that after the first I-Film Festival, he saw that people in Abu Dhabi wanted more chances to learn and work in filmmaking. He believes that by working together with the Creative Media Authority, IFA can help students from around the world learn filmmaking in Abu Dhabi, a safe and welcoming place. The academy will also work with local schools and universities so that students can visit and explore filmmaking.
The Innovative Film Academy started in 2015 in Bangalore, India. So far, it has trained over 2,000 students in 24 areas of filmmaking. It offers a one-year diploma and short weekend courses for different types of learners. The academy is known as a Centre of Excellence in filmmaking by the Government of India and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). IFA not only teaches students but also helps them find jobs in the film industry.
