The White House is making big changes to how it works with the media. Under President Donald Trump, the White House has decided to let new media voices, like podcasters, social media influencers, and content creators, join the daily press briefings. This means people who create news on platforms like social media can now ask questions and share their.

At her first briefing, Karoline Leavitt, the youngest press secretary in White House history at 27, said that young Americans are moving away from old news sources like Instead, they are getting their news from podcasts, blogs, social media, and other online platforms. Leavitt explained that opening the briefing room to these new media voices is important for sharing President Trump's message with more people.
In the past, seats in the front of the room were saved for White House press staff. Now, these seats will be called "New Media Seats." This will allow independent journalists and content creators to sit at the front and ask questions.
Leavitt also invited people from new media to apply for White House press passes through a new website, whitehouse.gov/newmedia. She encouraged podcasters, bloggers, and social media creators to apply if they are producing real.
At the briefing, Leavitt gave the first question to a reporter from a conservative, who was sitting in one of the new media seats. Afterward, she asked a reporter from the Associated Press, who typically asks the first question.
Leavitt also promised that the White House would give back press passes to 440 journalists who had lost them under the previous administration. She stressed that the White House supports the First Amendment, which guarantees freedom of the press, and wants to make sure that journalists have access to the White House.
This new change is part of the White House’s plan to reach more people by including all kinds of media, including newer online platforms. Leavitt said that traditional media outlets and new media voices will both have permanent seats in the briefing room. This change shows how the way Americans get their news has changed, and the White House is keeping up with those changes.
