Ryanair Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Passenger Dies Mid-Air

A Ryanair flight traveling from Tirana, Albania, to Manchester Airport made an emergency landing at London Stansted on Sunday, November 10, after a passenger tragically passed away mid-air. The flight, which had already crossed over Switzerland and France, was diverted shortly before 8 p.m. Upon arrival, the plane was met by emergency crews, including paramedics, police, and an air ambulance. Despite their best efforts, the man, whose identity and age have not been released, was declared dead at the scene.

The sudden medical emergency caused significant disruption onboard. Eyewitnesses reported that the passenger had started experiencing convulsions, prompting immediate action from the flight crew. The man was quickly moved to the aisle, where CPR was performed in an attempt to save his life. An eyewitness recalled the chaos that unfolded, saying, “He stopped breathing and everything went into chaos. A few of us with first aid training jumped in to help and started CPR while the defibrillator was set. Two aircrew members and three passengers worked together, continuing CPR as instructed by the defibrillator for 25 minutes until we finally landed in an emergency in London.”

Once the plane landed at Stansted, emergency services continued their efforts for an additional 30 minutes before passengers were told to leave the aircraft. The eyewitness shared that after a brief wait, passengers re-boarded the plane with a new crew, continuing their journey to Manchester without the deceased passenger. “I was devastated to learn the sad news,” the eyewitness said.

A spokesperson from the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed that multiple emergency vehicles had responded to the incident, including an ambulance, a Hazardous Area Response Team vehicle, a paramedic car, and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance. Despite the extensive medical response, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tragic event has left passengers shaken, with many reflecting on the efforts made by the flight crew and fellow passengers to try to save the man's life during the harrowing in-flight emergency.
