Israeli Shelling of Gaza School Results in Deaths of at Least 15

An Israeli military attack on a school in Nuseirat camp, Gaza, which was being used to shelter displaced Palestinians, resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 15 individuals. The Gaza Civil Defence Agency reported that the school was struck by a barrage of artillery fire on Sunday, with the attack claiming the lives of entire families and injuring many more.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) stated that they are currently investigating the incident. The situation in Gaza has been dire, especially in recent days, with intensified military operations leading to significant casualties among civilians. Hospitals are overwhelmed, struggling with shortages of medical supplies, despite efforts by the World Health Organization and the Red Cross to deliver much-needed aid.

In a separate incident earlier, five children were reportedly killed in a drone strike while playing on a street corner in northern Gaza, highlighting the dangers faced by civilians amid ongoing hostilities. Graphic reports describe the aftermath of the drone strike in the al-Shati camp, where the children’s bodies were found and later wrapped in shrouds for burial.

Witnesses and local authorities have detailed the ongoing turmoil in areas like Beit Hanoun and Jabalia, where Israeli forces have escalated attacks as part of a major ground offensive. Residents have reported being cut off from access to Gaza City, with Israeli tanks stationed on the periphery of the territory's largest urban area.

Since the conflict reignited, the Hamas-run health ministry has reported over 42,000 fatalities, with approximately 1.9 million people displaced from their homes in Gaza. Many families have faced the harrowing experience of relocating multiple times in search of safety.

The latest wave of violence began following an unprecedented attack by Hamas on northern Israel on October 7, resulting in approximately 1,200 fatalities and over 200 hostages taken into Gaza. The situation remains critical, with civilian lives at risk and the humanitarian crisis worsening day by day.
