Hamdan bin Zayed to Patronize Liwa International Festival 2025 in Abu Dhabi

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi has officially announced that the third edition of the Liwa International Festival 2025 will take place from December 13, 2024, to January 4, 2025, in Liwa, located in the picturesque Al Dhafra region.

Organized in collaboration with Liwa Sports Club, Al Dhafra Municipality, Abu Dhabi Police, and Miral, this year’s festival promises an exciting array of activities spread over 23 consecutive days, reinforcing Al Dhafra's status as a premier winter destination for camping, adventure, and traditional sports, including racing, automotive challenges, and motorcycle events.

The Liwa International Festival 2025 will welcome top professionals and competitors from around the world, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere filled with thrilling experiences. Attendees can look forward to spectacular fireworks displays, live music performances, and a diverse range of desert activities, all set against the stunning natural backdrop of the Al Dhafra region.

Continuing its commitment to celebrating Emirati culture, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi will organize a variety of desert, arts, and entertainment events during the festival. The Liwa Village, a highlight of the festival, will honor Emirati heritage, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in local traditions.

Festivalgoers can expect a plethora of experiences, including a main stage for musical performances and celebrations, an array of dining options, a crafts market featuring local artisans, creative workshops for all ages, family-friendly activities, a dedicated children’s play area, and local vendors showcasing the best in Emirati products. To enhance the experience, a range of hospitality and accommodation options will be available, from luxurious lodges to traditional desert tents adorned with Sadu fabric.

The festival will kick off on December 13 with a two-day car exhibition, followed by a series of competitions and activities leading up to the highly anticipated Hill Climbing Championship in the final three days—one of the most thrilling highlights of the event. Additionally, the festival will celebrate traditional sports, including falconry, camel racing, horse racing, pigeon shooting, and archery, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The Liwa International Festival not only emphasizes the unique tourism offerings of the Al Dhafra region but also invites community members and visitors alike to create lasting memories with family and friends while indulging in their passions for adventure, sports, culture, arts, and music.
