Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the strengthening ties between India and Germany during his address at the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024. He highlighted recent collaborations as evidence of their deepening friendship, pointing to various activities that illustrate the growing partnership between the two nations.
In his remarks, PM Modi noted, "On one hand, the CEO Forum meeting is being held here, on the other hand, our navies are practising together." He mentioned that German naval ships are currently on a port call in Goa, showcasing military cooperation. Additionally, he mentioned the forthcoming seventh inter-governmental consultations between India and Germany, reinforcing the notion that their friendship is deepening across multiple fronts.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the India-Germany strategic partnership, and PM Modi expressed optimism about the future, stating, "The next 25 years are going to take this partnership to new heights." He indicated that a roadmap has been prepared for a developed India over the next quarter-century.
PM Modi also welcomed the German Cabinet's release of the "Focus on India" document, which outlines a framework for cooperation between the two democracies and leading economies. "I am happy that at such a crucial time, the German Cabinet has released the Focus on India document," he said. He described the document as a blueprint for how both countries can work together for global good, reflecting their commitment to advancing their strategic partnership in a comprehensive manner. The Prime Minister praised the trust that Germany has placed in India's skilled workforce, noting that this recognition is particularly significant.
A key point in his address was Germany's recent decision to increase the annual visa quota for skilled Indian workers from 20,000 to 90,000. "I am confident that this will give a new impetus to Germany's growth," he asserted, underscoring the potential benefits of this move for both nations.
Highlighting the economic relationship, PM Modi stated that bilateral trade has surpassed $30 billion, with numerous German companies operating in India and an increasing presence of Indian firms in Germany. He remarked, "Today, India is becoming the biggest centre of diversification and de-risking. India is also becoming a hub of global trade and manufacturing." He encouraged businesses to seize this opportunity, stating that now is the ideal time to "Make in India, Make for the World."
