In Dubai’s vibrant and multicultural landscape, creativity often finds its voice early. For Dhruti Vrajesh Shah, art began not as an ambition but as a feeling. A quiet sense of pride at the age of six when she realized that creating something with her own hands could bring calm, happiness, and meaning.

She did not fall in love with art because someone called her work beautiful. She fell in love with how it made her feel. Drawing became a language when words felt unnecessary. Even her smallest sketches carried emotion. That early realization shaped what would become a disciplined and evolving artistic journey.

An Indian national residing in Dubai since 2013, Dhruti is currently a student at GEMS Modern Academy. While academics form an essential part of her life, art has steadily grown from childhood practice into a serious creative pursuit. She has been learning and practicing art since the age of six and began producing original works in January 2025, marking the beginning of her journey as an emerging visual artist.

Her early foundation was shaped at Mirvat Arts, where she learned the fundamentals that every serious artist must master. Color mixing, proportion, perspective, layering, and patience were not simply technical lessons. They were discipline. More importantly, she learned to accept mistakes as part of the process rather than as failures. That understanding allowed her to explore without fear.

Later, at Lotus Educational Institute, she expanded her technical exposure across mediums and styles. Portrait painting in acrylics proved especially challenging. Capturing facial proportions and emotional expressions demanded precision. Acrylic paint dries quickly, leaving little room for correction. Blending skin tones, building depth, and refining detail required persistence. The difficulty strengthened her skills and sharpened her focus.

Today, Dhruti balances structured online learning at Yellow Canva, guided by Sohan Kumar, with independent experimentation. She studies various mediums and techniques through guided classes, yet when exhibiting her work, she chooses to present self developed acrylic compositions. For her, structured learning builds technical strength, while freedom fuels originality.

Acrylics feel closest to her personality. They are bold yet layered. Vibrant yet controlled. She enjoys the balance between playfulness and seriousness, a reflection of her own nature. Whether painting animals, architectural forms, or expressive compositions, she layers her ideas deliberately, building depth and dimension until the canvas reflects her imagination.

Cultural inspiration occasionally enters her work. She has explored elements of Indian traditional art, including a Madhubani inspired piece, though she does not restrict herself to any single heritage lens. Instead, her voice is shaped primarily by personal emotion, lived experience, and inspiration drawn from fellow artists she encounters at exhibitions. Observing their storytelling and technique motivates her to refine her own artistic language.

One painting stands as a defining milestone in her journey. Elephant of Dreams. This was her first fully original concept and the first painting she ever sold internationally. It represents more than artistic success. It symbolizes courage and creative independence. She invested extraordinary attention into its details, carefully layering textures and building a dreamlike yet powerful presence. Selling that piece confirmed that her imagination held value beyond classroom practice. For Dhruti, Elephant of Dreams marks the moment she began to see herself not just as a student learning art, but as an artist.

Her work has been exhibited across multiple countries, exposing her to global audiences at a young age. Standing in galleries and watching visitors pause before her paintings has been deeply affirming. Hearing viewers discuss interpretations and ask questions about her creative process strengthened her confidence. She understands that art is not merely visual. It is conversational.

Recognition followed dedication. Winning the International Young Icon Award by the Talent Record Book became a powerful emotional milestone. It validated her discipline and reassured her that age does not limit impact. Yet she defines success differently. For her, success means growth, clarity of expression, and emotional connection rather than trophies alone.

Balancing school and art requires careful planning. She maintains a structured schedule, dedicating focused time to academics and creative practice. Discipline protects both pursuits. While challenging, this balance strengthens her intellectually and artistically.

Family support has been foundational. Her parents encouraged her passion seriously, enrolling her in classes, competitions, and exhibitions. Their belief provided reassurance during moments of doubt and taught her that talent must be nurtured with consistency.

Many of her themes explore unity, faith, inner strength, and nature. These ideas resonate because they reflect values she believes in deeply. Unity represents resilience. Faith represents peace. Nature represents balance. Through these themes, she aims to create artworks that communicate beyond surface beauty.

Looking ahead, Dhruti envisions refining her portrait painting in acrylics, improving realism, depth, and composition. She aims to participate in more international exhibitions and global competitions while experimenting with larger canvases and more complex storytelling. Her goal is to build a portfolio defined by originality, discipline, and maturity.

Whether art becomes her primary profession or remains part of a broader future, she knows it will remain central to her identity. Art has shaped her perspective, strengthened her discipline, and given her confidence.

If she could offer advice to children her age, it would be simple. Do not compare yourself to others. Practice patiently. Mistakes are part of growth. Creativity builds confidence and problem solving skills that last a lifetime.

Today, art means something powerful to her. It is a disciplined yet limitless form of expression that transforms imagination into meaningful visual stories.

In Dubai’s dynamic creative landscape, Dhruti Vrajesh Shah represents a new generation of artists who combine structure with freedom, heritage with individuality, and youth with seriousness of purpose.

Her canvas is still expanding.

And so is her journey.
