The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) announced that Rasid Laboratory, which is part of the Central Laboratory Sector and works with M42’s Environmental Sciences Department, has received A2LA accreditation. This certification is under the ISO/IEC 17025 standard and shows that Rasid Laboratory is a global leader in testing across many areas. The lab has gained special recognition for its work in areas like detecting health-related pathogens, identifying harmful substances, and assessing environmental risks in wastewater. It is the only lab in the world offering such a broad range of testing all under one certification.

ISO/IEC 17025 certification is an international standard that shows a lab’s competence and quality. Rasid Laboratory’s ability to respond to new risks and provide innovative solutions helps Abu Dhabi stay a leader in quality control. To get this accreditation, Rasid Laboratory had to go through several steps, including submitting documents, having experts review their work, and passing a four-day inspection to check if they followed all the right standards.
Eng. Abdulla Al Yazeedi, Acting Secretary General of the ADQCC, said, “Getting Rasid Laboratory accredited shows our commitment to building a strong scientific presence. Rasid Laboratory is key to helping us monitor both current and new risks by testing wastewater in Abu Dhabi. This achievement makes Abu Dhabi more recognized as a center of quality and reliability, showing how the city uses new technologies to assess risks.”
Eng. Abdullah Al Muaini, Executive Director of the Central Testing Laboratory Services Sector, said, “We are proud of this recognition. It shows the work we’ve done to provide top-level lab services. Rasid Laboratory, in partnership with M42, performs precise tests in many fields. These tests help keep track of risks in Abu Dhabi and support health, environment, and safety measures.”
Samara Bin Salem, Director of the Monitoring and Reference Analysis Department (Rasid Laboratory), said, “This is a big achievement. Rasid Laboratory is the first in the UAE and globally to offer health and environmental risk tests alongside testing for harmful substances. This certification shows that we are leading in science and technology. Rasid Laboratory is able to take action on new risks, offering solutions before and after testing. Using advanced robots, precise testing tools, and systems that analyze data, we conduct over 11 million tests each year to help plan for prevention and action.”
Dr. Wael Elamin, Medical Director of Environmental Sciences at M42, said, “This global certification is the result of the hard work of the Central Testing Laboratory and its teams, who are dedicated to meeting the highest standards of lab testing.”
Dr. Grzegorz Przemyslaw, Associate Director of Environmental Sciences (Wastewater) at M42, said, “Rasid Laboratory is the first lab in the world to conduct such a high number of tests every day, including over 440 different types of analysis. This lab’s ability to test wastewater and carry out chemical, biological, and radiological tests makes it a leader in environmental science.”
This achievement makes Rasid Laboratory a global leader in science and testing, helping to manage risks in health, the environment, and security.
