Alsop was the key player for the Gulf Giants, playing alongside Tom Curran. Together, they scored 65 runs, helping the team win their second match in a row. The target was 172 runs, and even though it was tough, Alsop and James Vince started well. They hit six fours in the first three overs, showing they were ready to chase the score. But their partnership of 42 runs ended when Vince was out from a short ball by Dilshan Madushanka. Alsop then joined Jordan Cox, and the two added 22 runs before Cox was also dismissed. Alsop kept calm and played one of his best innings.

By the end of the first 10 overs, the Gulf Giants had scored 88 runs and were in a good position to chase the target. Alsop reached his first 50 runs in the DP World ILT20 in 44 balls. Despite some players getting out quickly, Alsop stayed strong and helped his team move closer to the target. Gerhard Erasmus (10) and Shimron Hetmyer (12) got out without scoring many runs, but the Gulf Giants were still in the game. The turning point came in the 16th over when Curran hit a couple of boundaries, and Alsop hit a six. The Gulf Giants now needed 40 runs off 24 balls.

Alsop and Curran kept playing smart cricket, targeting Adam Milne in the 18th over and hitting him for 16 runs. Alsop played brilliantly, ending with 85* runs and leading the Gulf Giants to a great win.

Before this, the Gulf Giants won the toss and chose to bowl. The Sharjah Warriorz started strong, with Johnson Charles and Tom Kohler-Cadmore building a solid partnership. Kohler-Cadmore scored many runs early, but Charles also started hitting well. He hit Daniel Worrall for 18 runs before getting out on the last ball of the sixth over for 30 runs off 19 balls. The Warriorz scored 57 runs in the powerplay and looked set to score over 200 runs, but their middle order struggled. Blessing Muzarabani struck in the eighth over, taking the wicket of Kohler-Cadmore for 29 runs. Then, Avishka Fernando was out for 6, leaving the Warriorz at 79/3 in the middle of their innings.

Jason Roy helped the Warriorz by hitting boundaries and keeping the score going. He hit three boundaries off Curran, taking the score to 140/4 with three overs left. But the game changed in Muzarabani’s 18th over. He gave away a six at first but then took two quick wickets, including Roy’s wicket for 44 runs. Ashton Agar hit some boundaries at the end, helping the Warriorz finish with 171 runs.

The Gulf Giants successfully chased down this total and won. The Desert Vipers also qualified for the playoffs in the DP World ILT20 with an eight-wicket win over the Sharjah Warriorz. The Desert Vipers have had a great season, winning six out of seven matches.

Sharjah Warriorz captain Tim Southee said after the match, “We were in the game for most of the time. It was a good score. We have three more games, and hopefully, we can win some of them.”

Tom Alsop, who was named Player of the Match, said, “It was nice to spend time at the crease. The conditions were different from last night, but I just tried to stay calm and handle the pressure. Today, the pitch was more batter-friendly.”
