Xiaomi is gearing up to broaden its flagship smartphone range with the anticipated release of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Following the previous announcement of the Xiaomi 17 series, the company has confirmed that this new Ultra variant will soon make its debut. Initially launching in China, it is expected to expand into other markets shortly thereafter.
A standout feature of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is its ongoing collaboration with Leica. Xiaomi promises that the upcoming device will integrate a Leica-enhanced camera system. This partnership is evolving, as both brands commit to a closer co-creation approach, indicating deeper involvement in camera design and performance optimization. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to be the first smartphone born from this enhanced partnership.
Expected Launch Dates and Pricing
Xiaomi recently shared a post on Weibo revealing that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is set to launch in China next week. While the company hasn’t specified the exact date, reports speculate it will occur between December 22 and December 27. Some industry insiders hint that December 26 might be the official event date, with pre-orders possibly starting a day before.
When it comes to pricing, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is likely to follow the precedent set by the previous Ultra model. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra was launched at a premium price, depending on storage and RAM configurations. Following this trend, the new Ultra is anticipated to target high-end users seeking top-tier performance alongside exceptional camera quality.
Design Updates and Camera Configuration
While Xiaomi has yet to officially reveal the design of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, leaked images of the phone’s rear panel have surfaced. These leaks suggest a significant design overhaul from the previous Ultra model.
The leaked images exhibit a rectangular camera module positioned centrally on the back panel, a change from the circular arrangement seen in the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. This new design is expected to include a quad-camera setup, featuring a periscope telephoto lens that hints at enhanced zoom capabilities and a fresh aesthetic for the Ultra series.
Regarding camera hardware, reports indicate the device will sport a 50-megapixel main sensor, an impressive 200-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Combined with Leica’s expertise and Xiaomi’s imaging software, the phone is poised for exceptional photography and video capabilities.
Performance Insights and Specifications
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to be driven by Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Built on a 3nm architecture, this processor aims to deliver superior speed, enhanced efficiency, and robust AI capabilities, positioning the phone as an ideal choice for gaming, photography, and intensive daily tasks.
With premium hardware, a reimagined camera array, and an strengthened collaboration with Leica, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is emerging as a highly anticipated flagship smartphone this year. As the official launch approaches, further details are expected to unfold, providing users with a clearer understanding of what Xiaomi's latest Ultra offering has in store.
