Barack Obama’s Position on Kamala Harris and Possible Democratic Shifts
Despite numerous Democratic leaders endorsing Kamala Harris as the party's presidential candidate, former President Barack Obama has yet to lend his support. According to a report by the New York Post, Obama has refrained from endorsing Harris, partly due to concerns about her ability to defeat Republican candidate Donald Trump.

An unnamed Biden family source told the New York Post that Obama is deeply troubled by Harris's candidacy. The source criticized Harris as “incompetent,” citing her role as the border czar without having visited the border and her controversial stance on migrant health insurance. “Obama is very upset because he knows she can’t win,” the source said. “She cannot navigate the landmines ahead of her.”
The source further suggested that Obama’s strategy included getting President Joe Biden out of the race, an idea that was reportedly supported by an article from actor George Clooney advocating for Biden’s withdrawal. Obama was said to prefer Arizona Senator Mark Kelly as the leading candidate for the Democratic National Convention next month.
However, contrary to these reports, NBC News revealed that Obama plans to endorse Harris soon. The report mentioned that Obama has been privately supporting Harris and has been in regular communication with her. Discussions about arranging joint appearances on the campaign trail have also taken place, though no specific dates have been confirmed.
In a related development, speculation has arisen about former First Lady Michelle Obama potentially replacing Joe Biden. Earlier last month, US Senator Ted Cruz predicted that Michelle Obama could take Biden’s place, citing criticism of Biden's performance in a presidential debate against Trump. Cruz suggested that the odds of Biden being replaced with Michelle Obama were high due to the perceived poor performance and ensuing panic within the Democratic Party.
