The UAE has announced the withdrawal of an additional Nestlé infant milk product, S26 AR GOLD, as part of its ongoing voluntary precautionary recall due to concerns over bacterial contamination.
The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) confirmed that the affected product is usually used only under medical supervision. The recall applies to specific batches identified as 5185080661, 5271080661, and 5125080661.
According to EDE, the withdrawal was initiated after traces of Bacillus cereus were detected in a production input. This bacterium can produce the cereulide toxin, which may cause foodborne illness, leading to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
The establishment stated that all affected batches in distributor warehouses have been secured, and efforts are ongoing to remove any remaining products from the market, including online and offline retail channels.
In response, Nestlé has introduced digital verification tools to help consumers in the UAE easily check product batch numbers and request refunds or replacements where applicable.
Earlier, EDE had already recalled several Nestlé baby formula products, including NAN Comfort 1, NAN OPTIPRO 1, NAN SUPREME PRO 1, 2, and 3, S-26 Ultima 1, 2, and 3, and Alfamino.
This latest withdrawal follows recent quality testing conducted by UAE authorities on Nestlé-branded infant formula products to ensure consumer safety.
