The UAE's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) recently hosted a delegation from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states’ higher education ministries. This visit was a follow-up to the 24th Meeting of GCC Ministers of Higher Education, which took place in Doha, Qatar last year. The objective is to promote consistent exchanges among member countries for sharing knowledge, adopting best practices, and enhancing educational systems and global rankings.
The delegation comprised officials from universities, academic accreditation agencies, and planning authorities throughout the GCC. Their review highlighted several strategic UAE initiatives aimed at elevating the higher education landscape. A focus was placed on the National Qualifications Recognition System, designed to streamline processes, improve data accuracy, and promote digital integration across institutions.
MoHESR emphasized its initiatives against academic dishonesty through innovative digital monitoring techniques, ensuring student safety and educational quality. Dialogue included updates on international university rankings and the UAE's outcome-driven evaluation framework, which aligns higher education achievements with labor market demands, emphasizing research and skill enhancement.
The program included visits to Khalifa University and the Mohamed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), offering the delegation direct insights into the UAE's commitment to innovative education and advanced research capabilities. This visit underscores the GCC nations’ dedication to fostering collaboration, exchanging insights, and equipping future leaders to drive regional progress.
