Salem Al Owais, the UAE Ambassador to the United Mexican States, officially presented a copy of his credentials as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Non-Resident Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Belize. The ceremony took place with Belize’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Culture, and Immigration, Francis Fonseca. This marks another important step in the UAE’s diplomatic efforts to expand partnerships across Latin America and the Caribbean.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al Owais conveyed the greetings and good wishes of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, to Minister Fonseca. He also wished continued progress and prosperity for the government and people of Belize. The Ambassador emphasized that this appointment reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to deepen ties and cooperation with Belize in multiple areas of mutual interest.
Al Owais expressed his pride in representing the UAE in Belize, highlighting his goal to enhance cooperation across trade, investment, culture, and education. He affirmed his determination to strengthen bilateral relations and friendship between the two nations. The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of exploring new opportunities for collaboration that would benefit both countries and their citizens.
Minister Francis Fonseca warmly received Ambassador Al Owais and conveyed his greetings to H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressing his appreciation for the UAE’s growing role in international cooperation. Fonseca also extended his wishes for continued development and prosperity to the leadership, government, and people of the UAE, recognizing the UAE’s efforts in global diplomacy, sustainable development, and humanitarian initiatives.
Fonseca assured Ambassador Al Owais of Belize’s full support in carrying out his diplomatic mission. He noted that his government is ready to assist in every possible way to strengthen relations and promote projects that align with the mutual interests of both countries. Fonseca also expressed hope that this new phase of cooperation would lead to stronger connections between Belize and the UAE in sectors such as renewable energy, tourism, cultural exchange, and trade.
The meeting also included discussions on key areas of cooperation between the UAE and Belize. Both sides reviewed current partnerships and future possibilities for development in economic, environmental, and technological sectors. They highlighted the importance of collaboration in tackling global challenges such as climate change, sustainability, and economic diversification, which are shared priorities for both nations.
Belize and the UAE have steadily developed friendly relations based on mutual respect and shared goals for progress. The new diplomatic accreditation of Ambassador Al Owais is expected to open new avenues for investment, trade, and people-to-people connections. Both countries are exploring ways to improve connectivity, cultural understanding, and educational opportunities, which can serve as a foundation for a long-term partnership.
The presentation of credentials not only marks the beginning of Ambassador Al Owais’s official role in Belize but also symbolizes the UAE’s continued outreach to strengthen ties with global partners.
