UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Lee Jae-myung, President of the Republic of Korea, held official talks today to strengthen cooperation and advance the Special Strategic Partnership and Comprehensive Economic Partnership between the two countries. The discussions took place at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi as part of President Lee’s state visit to the UAE.
At the start of the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed the Korean President, expressing confidence that the visit would further deepen UAE-Korea relations and strengthen their shared vision for sustainable growth and prosperity. The talks focused on broadening cooperation in key areas, including the economy, trade, and investment, as well as renewable energy.
Both leaders discussed emerging opportunities in technology, artificial intelligence, sustainability, education, and culture. They explored ways to expand collaboration in line with the development priorities of both nations. The discussions also covered regional and international developments, highlighting the importance of supporting peace, stability, and progress, particularly in the Middle East.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed stated that the UAE and the Republic of Korea share a strategic relationship based on trust, mutual respect, and a joint commitment to development and prosperity. He reaffirmed the UAE’s focus on strengthening economic and trade relations and investing in a forward-looking partnership with Korea. The signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in 2024 was noted as a key milestone in bilateral economic cooperation, paving the way for new opportunities in trade and investment.
The President highlighted that Korea is one of the UAE’s top trade partners and praised the significant progress in bilateral relations over recent years. He emphasized the importance of continuing to build growth-focused partnerships with countries that share the UAE’s vision for sustainable development.
President Lee Jae-myung praised the strong ties between the two countries and their commitment to expanding collaboration. He noted opportunities in technology, artificial intelligence, energy, and culture and expressed satisfaction with the UAE’s leadership and the warm welcome extended to his delegation. President Lee signed the VIP guestbook, highlighting the importance of the strategic partnership and calling the UAE-Korea relationship a model for mutual development and progress.
To mark the occasion, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed hosted a luncheon in honor of President Lee and his delegation. Earlier, the leaders also met a community group of students, engineers, and nuclear energy specialists contributing to UAE development projects, alongside an economic delegation from both countries.
The talks were attended by several senior UAE officials, including His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister; H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; and other senior officials. The Korean delegation included ministers and senior officials accompanying President Lee.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the UAE-Korea partnership, guided by shared interests, economic growth, innovation, and cultural collaboration. The visit underscores the continuing strategic, economic, and cultural bonds between the two nations and sets the stage for deeper cooperation in the years ahead.
