Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas kept up his impressive form at the Dubai ATP 500 Open, beating Russia’s Karen Khachanov in a thrilling match that lasted three sets: 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 6-4. With this victory, Tsitsipas secured his place in the tournament’s final eight, where he will face Italy’s Matteo Berrettini later today at 6 pm (Dubai time).
This is Tsitsipas’ third win in a row, showing he is slowly finding his rhythm after struggling with some of his recent performances.

From the very first game, it was clear that the match would be a tough one for both players. The opening game of the first set was the longest, setting the tone for what was to come. Early in the match, Tsitsipas had a chance to break Khachanov’s serve, but the Russian held strong and took a 1-0 lead. Tsitsipas quickly responded, bringing the score back to 1-1, and both players kept it close, reaching a 3-3 tie.
The match became more intense when Tsitsipas found himself down 5-3 after Khachanov broke his serve. But Tsitsipas wasn’t ready to give up. He broke back in the next game to bring it to 5-4, keeping himself in the set. Both players continued to fight, and Tsitsipas managed to level it at 6-6, forcing a tiebreak.
In the tiebreak, Khachanov, 27, made the better decisions, reaching seven points first to win the set 7-6 after 50 minutes.
The second set was a different story, though. Khachanov played more aggressively, breaking Tsitsipas’ serve early and quickly jumping to a 4-0 lead. Tsitsipas fought hard but couldn’t recover, and Khachanov finished the set 6-2, tying the match at 1-1.
The third set, which lasted 46 minutes, was where Tsitsipas truly found his form. With the score at 5-4 in his favor, Tsitsipas saved his best tennis for the final moments. After both players held serve at 1-1 and 4-3, Tsitsipas managed to break Khachanov’s serve in the fourth and sixth games of the set.
That decisive break helped Tsitsipas secure the final game of the set, winning 6-4 to seal the match 2-1 overall. This victory earned him a spot in the quarterfinals, where he will face Matteo Berrettini in what promises to be another exciting contest.
