Ottawa witnessed a vibrant exchange of ideas as a delegation from TRENDS Research & Advisory embarked on the second day of its research tour in Canada. The group focused on fostering international collaboration, exploring AI innovation, and strengthening parliamentary engagement with strategic insights.
The day began with high-level meetings at the Canadian Parliament. Delegates held an in-depth session with Vince Gasparro, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of State and Federal MP for the Ruling Liberal Party, alongside Leslie Church, Liberal MP and Parliamentary Secretary to multiple ministries including Labour, Seniors, Families, and Employment. Discussions highlighted how think tanks can provide actionable analysis to support parliamentary work and policymaking.
The delegation also engaged with MP Ziad Aboultaif, a member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development. The conversation centered on pressing geopolitical issues and emphasized the importance of track-two diplomacy in promoting international understanding and cooperation.
Furthering its focus on innovation, TRENDS held a strategic dialogue with experts from the Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute (Mila), a globally recognized AI research hub. The discussions explored joint opportunities to develop AI-powered training programs aimed at empowering emerging researchers and enhancing skills for the next generation of scientific leaders.
The research tour reflects TRENDS’ growing global outreach, with the delegation’s presence in Canada and the activation of its virtual office underscoring the centre’s commitment to connecting researchers worldwide with cutting-edge expertise and collaborative opportunities.
