Airports can be busy and stressful places. People are often in a hurry to catch flights, move between terminals, or stand in long lines. One tool that helps travelers move quickly inside airports is the travelator. A travelator is a moving walkway, like an escalator without steps. It is made to help people walk faster and save time. But many travelers use it the wrong way, which creates delays and frustration for others.

A travelator is not meant for standing still like a ride. Its purpose is to help you walk quickly from one area to another. When people step onto the travelator and stop moving, especially when they stand side-by-side and block the walkway, it slows everyone down. Someone who is trying to reach their gate quickly may become stuck behind them and could even miss their flight.

There is one simple rule that can make travel easier for everyone: Stand on the right, walk on the left. If a person wants to rest or move slowly, they should stand on the right side of the travelator. If someone is in a hurry, they should walk on the left side. This rule is followed in many countries, and it keeps the walkway clear and organized.

However, in many airports, some travelers ignore this rule. They stand in groups or place their luggage in the middle, blocking movement. This leads to people arguing, pushing, or becoming stressed. Airports are already crowded, and such behavior makes the situation worse.

Understanding travelator manners is simple and thoughtful. If you are tired or have heavy luggage, you can stand, but stand on the right side. If you are rushing to catch your flight, you can walk briskly on the left side. This way, everyone gets what they need without causing trouble for others.

It is also important to pay attention to your surroundings. Do not stop suddenly on a travelator. Do not use it as a place to check your phone or look inside your bag. These actions may cause others behind you to trip or bump into you.

A small act of awareness can make travel smooth for everyone. When people follow this simple rule, airports feel more organized and calm. Travelers are able to move freely without stress. It shows respect for others who may be tired, anxious, or running short on time.

So next time you are at an airport, remember this clear and helpful rule: Stand right, walk left. It is a sign of good manners and smart travel.
