A tragic accident in Indonesia has resulted in the deaths of at least 16 individuals and left 18 others injured. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Monday on Java's primary toll road.
The bus was en route from Jakarta to Yogyakarta, a renowned historical destination. It had 34 passengers onboard.
While negotiating a curved exit ramp on the Krapyak toll road in Semarang, Central Java, the vehicle lost control, colliding violently with a concrete barrier before overturning.
The impact was so severe that some passengers were ejected from their seats, while others found themselves trapped within the wreckage of the bus.
Emergency services arrived approximately 40 minutes after the crash, promptly aiding the injured and rescuing those trapped.
Six victims died at the scene, while an additional ten succumbed to their injuries en route to hospitals or during medical treatment.
The 18 injured individuals were transported to two local hospitals.
Five of the injured are reported to be in critical condition
Thirteen others sustained serious injuries
Healthcare professionals are making every effort to provide lifesaving treatment.
Television footage from the scene depicted the yellow bus overturned, with rescue workers and community members assisting as ambulances transported the wounded and deceased.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause behind the bus's loss of control, with further updates expected shortly.
This incident marks one of the deadliest road mishaps in recent times in Indonesia, leaving numerous families to mourn.
