At the World Police Summit (WPS) in Dubai, officials unveiled plans to introduce a groundbreaking solution to alleviate traffic congestion in the UAE: a smart traffic signal drone. Designed to swiftly navigate to problem areas across the country, this innovative drone serves as a temporary traffic signal during emergencies or when traditional traffic lights malfunction at intersections. While currently in the prototype stage, authorities aim to commence production pending final evaluations and approvals. The three-day summit convened esteemed law enforcement agencies from 138 nations, including renowned entities such as the FBI, NYPD, and INTERPOL. Participants explored cutting-edge advancements in policing technology, cybersecurity, and road safety, fostering discussions on crime prevention strategies, forensic techniques, and mobility solutions.
The 3D-printed traffic signal drone operates for up to 25 minutes on a single charge, ensuring seamless traffic management until law enforcement personnel arrive on the scene. This pioneering initiative represents a significant step forward in enhancing traffic control measures across the UAE. Alongside the traffic signal drone, the WPS showcased an array of intriguing gadgets, including a robotic sniper developed by Ajman Police. Dubbed the UAE Sniper, this robotic device utilizes paintballs to mark suspicious individuals or locations, boasting an impressive 98% accuracy rate after three months of successful trials.
Controlled remotely, the UAE Sniper features two cameras—one serving as a guide and the other as a sniper camera—alongside long-lasting batteries capable of up to 58 hours of operation. The forthcoming iteration will incorporate a 360-degree camera to expedite target detection. The WPS, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, offers residents an exclusive opportunity to explore the latest law enforcement equipment, including an e-shooter range presented by the Ministry of Interior. Visitors can experience firsthand the e-shooter range, where they are granted ten shots with a laser gun at a silicon target, highlighting the event's commitment to showcasing innovative technologies and fostering community engagement in law enforcement initiatives.
