Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) has partnered with Haldiram, a well-known Indian multinational food brand, to establish one of the biggest saffron processing facilities in the GCC. The agreement was officially signed during Gulfood, one of the world’s largest food and beverage exhibitions held in Dubai.
The new facility is scheduled to begin operations in March 2025. It will be managed by Kesar Expert & Packers, a company with over 22 years of expertise in saffron processing in India. To ensure the highest quality and purity, the facility will obtain the European BRCGS certification, a globally recognized standard for food safety.

At the start, the processing plant will handle 30 metric tonnes of saffron, with a plan to increase this capacity to 100 metric tonnes within the next five years. This expansion will be made possible by taking advantage of the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the advanced logistics network available at Jebel Ali Port and Jafza.
During the discussions, both parties also explored the possibility of expanding Haldiram’s presence in Dubai and making additional investments in food processing and distribution.
This partnership highlights Dubai’s growing importance as a global trade hub. Jafza continues to strengthen its position in the food and beverage sector, which already hosts over 770 companies from around the world.
