Early Life and Artistic Roots in Kerala

Some artists paint what they see. Some paint what they feel. A rare few like Thomas Antony paint what the soul remembers.

His story begins in the quiet town of Thiruvalla in Kerala, where every mural, every temple carving, every festival, and every moment of devotion is a form of storytelling. Kerala taught him something profound from childhood. Images speak before words do. Emotions can live inside colour. Silence can tell the truth more honestly than sound. Growing up among mythological murals and timeless traditions shaped his artistic eye. But it was the UAE that expanded it. Kerala gave him vision. The UAE gave him direction. Together they formed the two halves of his artistic identity.

A Calling That Led Him to Art

Art did not enter Thomas’s life as a plan. It arrived as a feeling. A quiet pull that urged him to observe people, light, expressions, and the small details others overlooked. He felt an unexplainable whisper inside him. Not a decision but a calling. From that moment, art became his voice. It became his way of understanding the world and preserving its fleeting emotions.

In 2006, he moved to the United Arab Emirates. The country opened his world and marked a turning point in his personal and creative journey. The UAE offered him a multicultural universe where stories from every corner of the world met. Its harmony, openness, and creative diversity shaped his artistic courage. It was here that he discovered the limitless potential of digital realism. The UAE did not just give him space. It gave him purpose.

Evolution into Digital Hyper Realism

Transitioning from traditional methods to digital hyper realism felt like starting again. The tools changed. The discipline changed. Even the way he studied light and emotion changed. There were moments of doubt, moments of frustration, and moments when he wondered if digital art could hold the soul of a painting. But each challenge became a step forward. Each experiment refined his style. Each artwork carried more emotion than the last. Today, digital hyper realism is not just his medium. It is his signature. It is how he transforms emotion into image and memory into art.

  • Adjusting to new digital tools and techniques required redefining his entire workflow.

  • Every challenge in the transition helped sharpen his emotional precision.

  • His travels to Georgia, Bosnia, Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal broadened his understanding of global stories.

  • Silence and nature played a central role in shaping his evolving artistic voice.

Among all his travels, one place awakened him the most. Georgia in 2018. Its untouched landscapes, quiet mountains, and serene villages filled him with a sense of peace that opened a new creative channel. Standing in those vast spaces, Thomas felt nature speak to him. Silence became inspiration. Stillness became imagination. That journey reminded him why he creates. His travels to Bosnia, Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal deepened this journey and taught him that art is a universal language that connects hearts across cultures.

Three emotions guide Thomas tenderness, nostalgia, and spiritual calmness. In his work, light carries tenderness. Warm tones create nostalgia. Balanced composition brings spiritual calmness. He paints memories, but he also paints feelings. His goal is to make people feel what they have forgotten to feel.

Lueur Art and His Major Exhibitions

In 2024, he founded Lueur Art in the UAE. Lueur means a gentle light, symbolising the illumination he wants to bring to stories, memories, and the human soul. Lueur Art exists to preserve the emotions people cherish and the moments they never want to lose.

  • St. Michael’s Church exhibition in Sharjah created a spiritually moving connection with viewers.

  • The Jubilee Art Exhibition reinforced his belief in the strength of artistic communities.

  • His artwork Noor Al Badia expressed the warmth and depth of the desert environment.

  • The Legacy of Pearl Divers honoured UAE heritage and deepened his connection to the nation.

His first exhibition at St. Michael’s Church in Sharjah became a spiritual experience. Displaying digital art in a sacred space created a rare connection. Someone told him, “Your art feels alive. It speaks without sound.” That moment stayed with him. The Jubilee Art Exhibition at St. Francis of Assisi Church taught him the power of creative community. The Seeing Red exhibition featured his striking piece Noor Al Badia, a tribute to the desert’s warmth, intensity, and quiet heart. His miniature work The Legacy of Pearl Divers at RAK Design Gallery became a deep personal connection to the UAE. It honoured the bravery, unity, and sacrifices of Emirati pearl divers. Creating it strengthened his bond with the country he now calls home.

One portrait changed Thomas forever. The portrait of Ajna George. Ajna fought osteosarcoma for five years with extraordinary courage. Painting her was not just an artistic task. It was a tribute to resilience, strength, and the quiet grace of a young woman who lived with light even in pain. That work taught Thomas that art can heal, honour, and preserve a soul’s story. His visit to Assisi inspired his serene portrayal of Saint Francis of Assisi, filled with quiet compassion and deep peace. His painting Flight to Egypt reflects protection, trust, and divine guidance. It reminds viewers that even in uncertainty, hope travels with us.

A Life of Reflection, Inspiration, and Emotional Truth

Thomas loves silence. In quiet moments, he reads, meditates, sketches, and reflects on how to grow. Soft Indian classical music and Arabic melodies shape his emotional rhythm and guide the mood of his paintings. He observes the world closely. Once, he saw an elderly man guiding his grandson across a street. That simple act of care stayed in his heart and later inspired expressions of innocence, guidance, and love in his portrait works.

The UAE gave Thomas more than a home. It gave him vision, opportunity, and inspiration. Through his art, he hopes to give something meaningful in return, preserving memories, celebrating heritage, and creating visual stories that future generations can cherish.

His dream is for Lueur Art to become a home for meaningful storytelling, cultural collaboration, and a visual archive that preserves emotion. He describes his artistic life in one sentence. “My life as an artist is a journey of turning emotions into light one story, one memory, one soul at a time.”

This is the essence of Thomas Antony. A man who paints not what he sees, but what he feels. A digital realist who preserves the past with emotion and carries the future with light.
