Shenzhen, China – Tencent Holdings Ltd reported a robust 15% year-on-year revenue growth for the third quarter, driven by strong gaming performance and expanding AI-enhanced advertising services. The results reaffirm Tencent’s solid position as China’s largest social media and gaming powerhouse.
For the three months ending September 30, the tech giant posted revenue of 192.9 billion yuan ($27.08 billion), surpassing analysts’ average estimate of 188.9 billion yuan, according to data compiled by LSEG.
Tencent’s gaming division led the momentum, with domestic revenue climbing 15% to 42.8 billion yuan, powered by blockbuster titles such as Honor of Kings and Peacekeeper Elite. International gaming revenue surged even higher—up 43% to 20.8 billion yuan—thanks to new launches like Delta Force, which resonated strongly with global audiences.
The company’s advertising business also saw a sharp rise, up 21% year-on-year to 36.2 billion yuan. Tencent credited its improved ad targeting capabilities to advances in artificial intelligence, which enhanced both reach and effectiveness across its platforms, including WeChat and QQ.
Net profit for the quarter rose to 63.1 billion yuan, beating the 57.3 billion yuan consensus estimate, underscoring the strength of its diversified digital ecosystem.
Tencent’s latest results highlight the company’s renewed growth trajectory after a period of regulatory headwinds, with gaming, advertising, and AI-driven services forming the core pillars of its expansion strategy.
