His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, welcomed a delegation from Birzeit University (BZU) on Saturday at the Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre. The delegation was led by Dr Hanan Ashrawi, Chairperson of the University’s Board of Trustees.
Sheikh Sultan commended the delegation for their commitment to managing and enhancing the university's academic and administrative frameworks. He underscored that their initiatives are essential for BZU to fulfill its educational objectives and play a pivotal role in serving the Palestinian community. His Highness also highlighted the significance of dedication in advancing higher education and elevating the university's reputation among Palestinian institutions.
He reiterated his unwavering support for academic entities that require assistance, noting that the difficult circumstances faced by Palestinian students necessitate robust measures to ensure they receive education in a secure and nurturing setting.
During the meeting, Sheikh Sultan was provided with a comprehensive overview of BZU's academic offerings. As one of Palestine's oldest universities, it offers over 170 programs at various levels, including undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and professional diplomas in disciplines such as science, engineering, arts, business, law, and health.
With more than 13,000 students, Birzeit University is celebrated for its groundbreaking contributions to scientific research, community service, and its esteemed academic standing both locally and globally. The institution ranks highly among Palestinian universities and continues to play a vital role in the advancement of education and societal development.
