His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, welcomed Sarah bint Youssed Al Amiri, Minister of Education, at Al Badi Palace on Wednesday morning. The Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Education.
The warm reception highlighted the strong relationship between the leadership and the education sector in Sharjah. His Highness praised the Ministry for its tireless efforts in improving education and recognized the dedication of the Ministry’s staff who support schools, teachers, and students every day. His Highness stressed that education is the foundation for building the skills and talents of young people, which are vital for creating a brighter and more sustainable future for the nation.
Promoting Global Best Practices While Preserving Emirati Identity
His Highness highlighted the importance of adopting the best international practices in education, teaching, and curriculum development. At the same time, he emphasized that these practices must respect and preserve the UAE’s unique cultural identity. He explained that Islamic and Arab values, along with local customs, are an essential part of Emirati heritage, and schools have a key role in maintaining these traditions and passing them on to future generations.
“Education is not only about knowledge but also about values, culture, and preparing students to be responsible citizens who contribute positively to their country,” His Highness said. He stressed that schools should balance modern learning methods with local traditions to ensure students develop both intellectually and morally.
Plans for Enhancing Schools and Learning
The meeting also focused on the Ministry’s plans for the upcoming school year. His Highness was briefed on several key initiatives designed to improve education quality for all students. These plans include:
