Sharjah Ruler launches and sets rules for Sharjah Fashion Lab

Sharjah is opening a new center called "Sharjah Fashion Lab." His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has made an official rule to set up this lab. The lab will work on fashion and help designers grow. It will have its own rules and will manage its own money. The lab will be linked to the Sharjah Creative Quarter.

The lab’s main office will be in University City, Sharjah. If needed, more branches can be opened in other areas of Sharjah with approval from the Ruler.

The purpose of this lab is to support fashion designers in Sharjah, the UAE, and the Gulf region. It will help them sell their designs worldwide. The lab will also provide designers with the latest tools and machines to make sure their clothes meet international quality. It will guide designers, help them create new fashion models, and ensure high-quality production.

The lab will work on:

1. Creating new fashion designs that follow global styles.
2. Making digital patterns and 3D models of clothes.
3. Producing small batches of clothes (maximum 30 pieces per design).
4. Giving expert advice on fashion production and market strategies.
5. Running training programs for UAE fashion designers and manufacturers.
6. Teaching fashion-making skills and offering learning programs.
7. Taking part in local and international fashion markets.
8. Working with local factories and businesses with approval from the head of Sharjah Creative Quarter.
9. Collaborating with government departments for technical and management support.
10. Handling any other tasks assigned by the President of Sharjah Creative Quarter.

A director will be appointed to manage the lab. This director will report to the head of the Sharjah Creative Quarter and will have a team to help run the lab. The director’s responsibilities will be clearly defined in the decision.

The new rule also explains how the lab will get funds, if any fees will be removed, and how it will follow the law. The lab is expected to help the fashion industry grow in Sharjah and make it more recognized worldwide.
