His Highness warmly welcomed the guests and expressed his deep pride in the exceptional status of Sheikh Abdul Basit Mohammed Abdul Samad, one of the most renowned Quran reciters in the Islamic world. He praised the late Sheikh’s lasting impact on generations of Muslims and highlighted his mastery of the seven Quranic readings, which earned him a distinguished place in the history of Quranic recitation.
The Ruler of Sharjah noted that Sheikh Abdul Basit’s voice and devotion to the Holy Quran left a profound mark on the hearts of listeners across the world, making his legacy timeless and universally cherished.
Sharjah’s Ongoing Mission to Serve the Holy Quran
His Highness reaffirmed that Sharjah remains firmly committed to supporting initiatives and projects dedicated to serving the Holy Quran and its sciences. He stressed the importance of using modern technology to preserve Quranic heritage and pass it on to future generations in a way that strengthens Islamic values and keeps pace with contemporary developments.
He added that these efforts reflect Sharjah’s cultural and humanitarian vision, which places knowledge, faith and heritage at the heart of its development strategy.
Gratitude from the Family of Sheikh Abdul Basit
The sons of the late Sheikh Abdul Basit Mohammed Abdul Samad expressed their sincere appreciation to His Highness for the warm reception and for honouring the legacy of great Quran reciters. They praised Sharjah’s leading role in serving the Holy Quran, its sciences and its distinguished scholars.
Tour of the Museum of Renowned Reciters
His Highness then toured the Museum of Renowned Reciters at the Holy Quran Academy, where he inaugurated a special corner dedicated to the belongings of Sheikh Abdul Basit Mohammed Abdul Samad. The exhibit includes a rare collection of photographs and personal items documenting the Sheikh’s life, his meetings with scholars, officials and international figures.
His Highness also viewed a documentary presentation highlighting key moments from the Sheikh’s life, his upbringing, his journey with Quranic recitation, and his lifelong service to the Holy Quran.
Rare Manuscripts and Personal Memorabilia
During the tour, His Highness listened to a detailed explanation of the exhibits, which include copies of the Holy Quran, gramophone and tape-recording devices used by the late Sheikh, handwritten personal letters, his Quranic certification, and a collection of medals and honours he received from various countries around the world.
Exchange of Appreciation and Gifts
His Highness presented the sons of Sheikh Abdul Basit Mohammed Abdul Samad with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of their generous donation of their father’s rare belongings to the Museum of Renowned Reciters. He commended their initiative, noting that it will help preserve the Sheikh’s legacy for future generations.
In return, the sons presented His Highness with a commemorative gift, expressing their gratitude for his continuous efforts to serve the Holy Quran and honour its great figures.
Launch of “Al Moeen” Smart Quran Application
On the sidelines of the event, His Highness officially launched the “Al Moeen” smart application by pressing a button on a tablet device. The application is designed as a comprehensive digital Quran platform that helps users recite and memorise the Holy Quran through an advanced interactive approach.
Advanced Features for Recitation and Memorisation
His Highness viewed a presentation showcasing the app’s key features. “Al Moeen” offers real-time recitation tracking using advanced voice recognition technology, detects pronunciation and articulation errors, and provides instant corrective feedback.
The app also includes intelligent memorisation and revision modes that create personalised learning plans based on the user’s level. It adopts the Ottoman page layout of the Quran to ensure accuracy and consistency with the printed Mushaf.
Global Access and Multilingual Support
The application supports smart search by text and voice, along with multiple interface languages, translations and interpretations. It is currently available in Arabic, English, French and Urdu, and will be accessible worldwide through major app stores.

The reception was attended by His Excellency Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs; Dr Khalifa Musabah Al Tuneiji, Chairman of the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah; Dr Issa Saif bin Hanzal, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Affairs; Dr Ali Ibrahim Al Marri, Chairman of Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre, along with a number of senior officials.
