His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired the Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday morning at the Ruler’s Office.
The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, along with His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Council.
During the session, the Executive Council approved the draft general budget for Sharjah government departments and entities for the year 2026. The proposed budget reflects the government’s continued commitment to strengthening institutional performance, enhancing the efficiency of public spending, and expanding the quality of services delivered to the community.
The draft budget outlines projected revenues and expenditures across key government sectors, with a strong focus on effective planning, measurable performance indicators, and sustainable financial management. It is designed to support development priorities while ensuring that resources are directed toward initiatives that directly benefit citizens, residents, and visitors to Sharjah.
The Council also decided to refer the draft budget to the Sharjah Consultative Council for discussion, as part of the formal legislative process required before final approval.
In addition, the Executive Council reviewed the performance of government departments and entities throughout 2025. The review assessed progress in achieving strategic objectives, evaluated outcomes against set targets, and examined proposed plans and priorities for 2026. The exercise aims to drive continuous improvement in government services and ensure that future programmes are closely aligned with Sharjah’s development goals and the needs of the wider community.
